How to Change the Mac OS X Mail Dock Icon

The hawk-in-flight against the blue background of a postage stamp is a no doubt familiar sight for users of Mac OS X Mail. But many Mac users may find that their Mail icon just doesn't fit with the rest of their desktop's aesthetic.

If you aren't a fan of the default option, you can change Mail's icon in your Dock. Here's how.

These instructions apply to OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and later.

How to Change the Mail Dock Icon in OS X 10.6 to 10.10

You could change the icons for native apps way more easily in versions of Mac OS X preceding El Capitan (10.11). Here's how to do it if you haven't upgraded yet.

  1. Close Mail if it's open.

  2. Ctrl-click (or right-click) on the Mail Dock icon, highlight OpsiyonlarVe sonra seçim Finder Göster.

How to Change the Mail Icon in Mac OS X El Capitan and Later

Newer versions of Mac OS X and macOS have a protocol in place to prevent you changing native apps. It's a security feature, but it will stop you from quickly changing the Mail icon.

Follow these steps to make it possible to change system icons.
